Andrea Gottlieb, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician
Andrea Gottlieb (she/her) earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver, where she focused her studies on the development of depression and nonsuicidal self-injury. She is a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician (TM).
Dr. Gottlieb completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She then joined Sheppard Pratt, where she started and directed the Comprehensive Outpatient DBT Program. She additionally served as co-founder of the Sheppard Pratt LGBTQ+ Inclusivity Committee. Dr. Gottlieb works with adolescents and adults; she has experience working with gender non-conforming individuals and people who have experienced trauma, with specific training in the DBT-Prolonged Exposure protocol.
Andrea’s approach to psychotherapy is rooted in understanding and accepting oneself fully and at the same time working toward building a life that includes the people, places, and things that are meaningful to each person. She recognizes that therapy can be quite hard at times. Andrea uses her genuine self, at time quirky and at times serious, to build a relationship in order to work collaboratively with her clients on difficult topics and strong emotions.
Dr. Gottlieb has presented on DBT numerous times, taught many students and staff DBT principles and skills, published over a dozen articles on depression and self-harm in peer reviewed journals, and consults about DBT locally and nationally.
In her free time, Andrea enjoys growing indoor and outdoor plants, playing with her dog Mozzarella – who sometimes makes an appearance in therapy sessions, and spending time with her family. A true Floridian, she would rather be outside in the sun when it’s warm and inside under a blanket when it’s cold.
